Tulonge Afya Project

Community Concern of Orphans and Development Association (COCODA) has received a sub award agreement from T-MARC Tanzania to implement USAID Tulonge Afya Project in 13 wards in Njombe Town council of the United Republic of Tanzania. The overall goal of this project is to improve the health status by transforming socio-cultural norms and supporting the adoption of healthier behaviors in order to achieve the following results:
     - Improved ability of individuals to practice healthy behaviors
     - Strengthened community support for health behaviors
     - Improved systems for coordination and implementation of SBCC interventions

Our integrated approach blends best practices from behavioral health sciences to address the complex individual-to-societal interplay that encourages change. USAID Tulonge Afya uses participatory, evidence-based, and theory-informed approaches. Through this, the project:
     - Addresses norms and inequities that drive poor health
     - Advance health while promoting rights
     - Use data better to support regional needs
     - Harmonize messages and media
     - Strengthen institutional capacity to manage and deliver high quality SBC
     - Facilitate coordination to maximize SBCC impact and efficiencies
